Green Gas Vs CO2 – Which Is Better For Airsoft Pistols? Among the many factors to consider when it comes to picking up new Airsoft Guns, such as which pistol feels better in your hand or which is more accurate, is which propellant should be used.

CO2 or Green Gas? Both Green Gas and CO2 operate in very similar, fundamental ways. In reality, regular propane can also be used to power green gas pistols. However, this is not suggested because the silicone oil in green gas plays a crucial role in keeping the gun functioning properly – mainly by keeping the different O-rings in the pistol well-lubricated.

Green gas is held under high pressure within the gun rather than in an external canister. Green Gas is actually kept liquid when stored. However, when you pull the trigger on a Green Gas gun, a small amount of gas is emitted and rapidly expands into a gaseous form. This generates the pressure required to launch a BB from the gun. While propane is a highly flammable material that is generally fired to provide energy by most propane-powered products, no ignition actually occurs here. Green Gas weapons are powered purely by the pressure released when green gas transforms from a liquid to a gas.

Green Gas Advantages: Affordable, Reliable, and Simple

There are numerous advantages to using both Green Gas and CO2. For Green Gas, this includes being easier on the barrel, more cost-effective, and frequently easier to maintain full magazines. Because Green Gas has a lower pressure than CO2, it will be less harsh on your gun. Furthermore, because it contains silicone oil, it will partially lubricate your pistol while you fire. However, just because there is silicone oil in the gas does not excuse you from cleaning your pistol correctly. You should continue to do so either way.

Green Gas is also less expensive. Green Gas costs upwards of £10 a can, and depending on your pistol, you can get more than 800 bullets out of each. Finally, because you can simply top off the magazine when using Green Gas, many people find it easier to ensure you have full capacity. As a result, Green Gas has several significant advantages, including weapon dependability, low cost, and ease of usage. CO2

The chemical shorthand for carbon dioxide is CO2. CO2 airsoft guns work in the same way that green gas airsoft guns do – when the trigger is pressed, a small amount of pressurised CO2 is expelled from the gun’s CO2 canister before rapidly expanding to create the pressure required to blast a BB out of the gun.

CO2 fuels practically all BB pistols and several 6mm airsoft pistols. 12g CO2 cartridges are widely available: almost any department shop and nearly all outdoor-centric retailers, such as your local airsoft dealer, will stock at least one brand of CO2. This propellant has been used successfully in airguns for many years.

CO2 Advantages: Harder Kick, Faster FPS

CO2 has numerous advantages. While Green Gas is easier on the gun and less expensive, this does not mean that CO2 is worthless. In cooler temperatures, CO2 will kick harder, shoot faster, and work better. A CO2-propelled handgun will kick harder than a green gas weapon due to its increased pressure, and so most CO2 pistols have higher FPS than their Green Gas counterparts. Finally, due to the self-contained cartridge design, CO2 will perform better at higher temperatures than Green Gas. CO2 cartridges often cost less but only provide between 30 and 50 shots per cartridge.
