This has the effect of adding a backspin to the round projectile. Adding a backspin to any ball whilst flying through the air adds lift and therefore increases its range. Some spring airsoft rifles include adjustable Hop-Ups, but most have fixed or even none. If your spring rifle is low FPS then a Hop-Up is not normally needed.
