Somewhere between the classic AK lineage and dedicated marksman rifles sits one of the most distinctive silhouettes in military history: the Soviet VSS Vintorez. King Arms has captured that look faithfully in this electric airsoft rifle, and the blue two-tone version turns an already striking replica into one of the most eye-catching guns on the rack. At £399.99 it undercuts a lot of full-metal DMR platforms while bringing genuine skirmish-ready performance straight out of the box.
First Impressions
Lift it from the foam-lined case and the first thing you notice is the weight. The receiver is full metal and the real-wood thumbhole stock adds genuine heft, so this feels like a proper rifle rather than a toy. The bright blue upper receiver, handguard and suppressor-style outer barrel sit in deliberate contrast against the black lower receiver, pistol grip, curved magazine and loop trigger guard, exactly like the two-tone RIF versions we stock. The real-wood stock with its thumbhole cutout is the detail that sells the package; it looks superb and sits comfortably into the shoulder.
Performance and Handling
This is an AEG rather than a gas gun, so it runs from a battery and delivers consistent semi-auto shots. King Arms built it around a custom Version 3 gearbox fitted with a MOSFET, which gives you crisper trigger response and protects the trigger contacts. The adjustable HOP-up lets you dial in heavier BBs, and the long suppressor-style outer barrel gives the inner barrel plenty of length, which is exactly what you want for accuracy at range. Expect a spring and set-up aimed at the UK RIF limit, ready for skirmish use after a quick chronograph check.
Handling is closer to a dedicated marksman rifle than an assault rifle. The thumbhole stock places your hand naturally and the long body is well balanced, so the sights settle quickly on target. Semi-auto follow-up shots are fast and quiet-adjacent thanks to the integral suppressor styling, which is part of what makes the Vintorez design so iconic.
Build Quality
King Arms has a solid reputation for metal construction at this price point and it shows. The receiver is full metal, the outer barrel is metal, and the ribbed detail on the receiver and handguard is crisp. The wood furniture is genuine timber with a warm finish rather than painted plastic pretending to be wood, and the curved high-cap magazine feeds reliably. The Vintorez layout, with the magazine well ahead of the grip and the integrated suppressor, is reproduced neatly.
